註: 種名字首「cord」即「心形」之意，字尾「manus」為「掌節」，原文形容其膨大的大螯掌節狀似心臟，因此中文採「心掌沙蟹」。舊中文名乃比照斯氏沙蟹 (O. stimpsoni) 的舊名「痕掌沙蟹」，將此種命名為「平掌沙蟹」，然而掌節內側缺乏隆脊的還有中華沙蟹，因此採尊重命名者原意定名。
