Notes: Davie (2012) considered Venitus as subgenus because the molecular phylogeny showed Venitus is nested within the clade of Macrophthalmus in McLay et al. (2010). The taxonomic system of Daive (2012) is followed to retain Venitus as a subgenus. The specific name is originated from "Venita", the name of the author's mother and also the Roman goddess of beauty (R. S. K. Barnes, pers. comm.).
註: 由於分子親緣關係 (McLay et al. 2010) 顯示 Venitus 位於 Macrophthalmus 單系群內, 因此遵循 Davie (2012) 將 Venitus 維持在亞屬的地位。"Venitus" 源自於 "Venita" (韋妮塔), 即命名者母親名字, 同時也是羅馬之美麗女神 (R. S. K. Barnes 個人通訊)。中文命名為 "韋眼蟹", 以尊重作者本意。
